Volunteer Coordinator
Role Description
The role requires a competent individual to recruit and retain volunteers for all positions open for the organization. Volunteers do not necessarily come in with the knowledge about equines or the applied role. You will be responsible for allocating responsibilities, ensuring education classes are attended, volunteers assist with fundraisers and retaining the best people.
It takes a competent leader to succeed in growing a volunteer program for an equine rescue. You should know how to distinguish talent and do everything possible to motivate and inspire. You must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
The goal is to ensure that our organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable individuals, and that they are correctly utilized for the fulfilment of our mission.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Vetting:
Attend fundraising events
Vetting applicants on background, availability, and skills through an interview process to verify whether the individual is a match for the organization
Core Records:
Ensure all volunteers whether one day or ongoing have completed respective forms prior to starting
Verify volunteers are logging their hours for all roles
Onboard and assists current volunteers with organization’s main electronic applications such as VicNet, Google and Slack
Collect annual re-commit forms with the volunteer base
Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information, assignments, time logs on Company’s preferred platform
Provide reports to the Board of Directors upon request
Shift & Logistics Management:
Arranging for appropriate training when needed
Coordinate teams of volunteers for large-scale actions
Disseminate information for upcoming actions and events
Ensure fundraisers are fully staffed
Ensure that chore time is staffed
Ensure the volunteers are trained for their respective positions
Retention:
Clearly communicate the purpose of the organization, responsibilities, and expectation of volunteers
Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed
