Honoring Angus - Memorial

  • Hay Burr Inn Equine Rescue & Sanctuary 169 Black Hill Road Plainfield, CT, 06374 United States (map)

At Hay Burr Inn, we believe every horse deserves a peaceful final journey, and that's what we gave our sweet Angus. Angus was a special boy—a kind, blind Arabian gentleman who came to us through animal control, a case of "skin over bones." He had few teeth, and his body was failing from an incurable condition. Despite his sad state, our volunteers cared for him deeply, and in his final days, he was plump and had a beautiful, glossy coat.

On Monday, September 1st, Angus let us know it was his time. We made the difficult and painful decision to give him peace. We believe he is now in horse heaven, running young in lush fields with his sight restored and his legs strong.

We will be gathering on Saturday, November 8th at 11 AM to honor his time here at the sanctuary. We appreciate your love and support during this time while we lay his ashes to rest in the field that he spent sunning with his best bud, Devlin.

Providing Angus with a dignified farewell was important to us. The costs for his peaceful passing have already been paid from our rescue's operating budget. While we're grateful we could give him this final gift, it has taken away from the funds we rely on for the daily care of all our other horses and donkeys.

Your donation would help us replenish the funds we used for Angus's end-of-life care, allowing us to continue our mission of providing a safe haven for horses in need. Please consider honoring Angus's memory by helping us get back on track.

Run free, Angus. You will be missed.

Hay Burr Inn has been rescuing horses for over a decade, but only became a Charitable 501(c)(3) Organization in 2014.

We currently house 15 horses and 2 donkeys.

Because the entire staff is family and volunteers, 100% of the money donated by our supporters goes directly to the horses.
