Head Equine
Volunteer Trainer
A strategic training lead responsible for the design, execution, and quality control of the volunteer equine caregiver roles education and Tier system. Bridges the gap between administrative coordination and live barn operations.
The goal is to ensure that our organization is always staffed with the best and most reliable individuals, and that they are provided the tools for the fulfilment of our mission.
Volunteer Position Brief:
Train the Trainers: Directly manage, hold accountable, and train the Volunteer Trainers to ensure instructional consistency across the board.
Curriculum: Design the content for education, progress charts and reports for the trainers to utilize in their training.
Clinics: Design and conduct specialized clinics required for higher-tier volunteer advancements. Ensure clinic attendance is properly logged for Tier Advancements.
Trainer Meetings: Lead regularly scheduled meetings to bring the trainers together, ensure cohesiveness within the group, relay important updates and provide support to the trainers.
System Quality Control: Act as the final reviewer of quarterly progress reports and issues to volunteers. Cross-reference files to prevent "lenient vs. strict" trainer discrepancies and provide final sign-off on all Tier graduations.
High-Level Admin: Log approved tier advancements into the volunteer database records.
Safety Collaboration: Work in lockstep with the Barn Manager to ensure all protocols match the current safety needs of the herd and grounds.
Structural Boundary: Escalates live floor safety issues to the Barn Manager and routes tier evaluation disputes to the Barn Manager for neutral resolution.
